The Lodge and a Hint of Fall

Little Cedar Lodge Fall 2008

Mid October usually means colorful leaves and crisp mornings. It also means a lot of work especially since we have been gone for five months. I got the grass under control and have been trimming limbs from cedars. Carol wants a fense around the garden to keep the deer out next summer so I have spent the last couple of days digging post holes and cutting and limbing cedar trees for posts. She wants it 8' tall to keep the deer from jumping over it.

Carol has been busy decorating and cleaning up until last week when she had some bunyons removed from both feet at once. This makes her stay in one place but she can certainly give orders from the recliner. Here is a photo of the front door decorated for fall.

Welcome to Little Cedar Lodge

When we got home from Colorado we discovered a large oak tree behind the house had died. We had someone come in and drop it because I certainly didn't want it to fall on the house, which it might have done if I had dropped it. We had them leave the tree right where it fell and I have spent a couple of days cutting and splitting it.

Wood cutting

Actually this photo is a little misleading. Had brought his tractor up with a splitter attachment and I used that to split the wood. Thank goodness for splitters.

Here are a few more photos from around the place.

We got to babysit Annabelle and Andrew a couple of weeks ago. Here are some recent photos.

Nick and Sharon Neely stopped by last week. They are a couple who worked with us out at the Buena Vista KOA this summer. They live in Oklahoma and had been up in Hannibal visitng friends so they stopped by on their way home. It was great to see them. We were so glad they made the effort to stop by and see us.

Carol is recouping well from her surgery, but it is hard to keep her sitting down. She is getting bored.

Life is good.
